Van Ermel Scherer (VES) is an indigenous high-end swim and resort brand located in Coledale, on the South Coast of New South Wales.

As a proud Aboriginal woman, VES embodies the enduring legacy of my grandmother, Valerie van Ermel Scherer/Mattie Frith. A child of the stolen generation in Darwin, she spent her life in Sydney after being relocated. Despite her early years on Croker Island and upbringing in missionaries, she adapted to city life. As a minority in Sydney, her profound enthusiasm for fashion began. She started designing her own kaftans using vibrant colours, curated with fabrics she handpicked and had custom-made, ignited my own aspiration for design. Her expertise in ensuring exceptional quality resonates deeply with van Ermel Scherer, representing her exquisite style and sophistication.
