van Ermel Scherer (VES) is an Aboriginal luxury swim and resort label based in Coledale, on the South Coast of New South Wales.

Founded by proud Larrakia woman Verity, the label honours the legacy of her late grandmother, Valerie van Ermel Scherer (Mattie Frith). A child of the Stolen Generations, Valerie was removed from her country in Darwin under government policies and enslaved in Sydney, where she found resilience and self-expression through fashion. Designing her own kaftans in bold colours and sourcing bespoke fabrics, she cultivated a style defined by sophistication and quality.

van Ermel Scherer carries this heritage forward through collections that fuse culture with modern luxury. Each piece is crafted from exceptional fabrics and elevated with exclusive prints, designed to embody timeless elegance. Silhouettes are meticulously tailored to flatter the form, creating resort wear that moves seamlessly from poolside to evening. Signature kaftans complete the aesthetic, offering a statement of effortless refinement.

More than a label, van Ermel Scherer represents resilience, heritage, and beauty — reimagined through the lens of high fashion.

Always was, always will be.
