About
van Ermel Scherer (VES) is an Aboriginal luxury swim and resortwear house, creating limited-edition collections that embody coastal luxury and timeless allure. Based in Coledale on the South Coast of New South Wales, the label speaks to women who value rarity, refinement, and meaning in what they wear.
Founded by proud Larrakia woman Verity, VES honours the legacy of her late grandmother, Valerie van Ermel Scherer (Mattie Frith). A survivor of the Stolen Generations, Valerie was based on Gadigal Country, where she began designing her own kaftans. Crafted in bold colours from bespoke fabrics, her creations embodied strength, resilience, and sophistication a creative lineage now reimagined in modern luxury.
VES collections are designed with precision and intent. Fabrics are chosen for their excellence, prints are produced in strictly limited runs, and silhouettes are tailored to flatter with effortless grace. Each piece transcends trend, moving seamlessly from poolside to evening. Signature silk crepe kaftans anchor the brand’s aesthetic enduring statements of elegance and exclusivity.
For the woman who seeks more than fashion, van Ermel Scherer offers a narrative of resilience and heritage reframed through the lens of high-end design.
Always was, always will be.
